Our DNA tests

DNA tests that support your patient

  • The latest whole genome array from Thermo Fisher
  • Reports that support better treatment and/or diagnosis.
  • Substantive and clear report with working mechanisms for healthcare providers.
  • Parameters arranged for decision support
  • Clear and understandable report for the patient.
  • View the results in a browser or on meamedica|pro desktop application.

Also good to know...

  • Modern technology with modern security!
  • The DNA data belongs to the patient! The patient manages the access permissions.
  • Registered pharmacy with a commitment to the highest quality as expected from this role as a healthcare provider.
Most comprehensive medicine passport.
The activity of 34 genes that play a role in the processing of medicines is determined

High accuracy
A healthcare provider can optimize dosages based on the results

Clear reporting per gene

Display of involved genes per drug
Personal medicine
Analysis of more than 10,000 actionable variants of 59 genes associated with potentially serious health problems.

According to the guidelines of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG).

Examples are:
- heart and vascular diseases;
- familial hypercholesterolaemia;
- various types of colon cancer.

Personal health
The human HLA complex contains genes that regulate immune function.
In organ transplants, for example, the best possible 'fit' is sought.
It is also associated with risks of various conditions.

This report also contains several genes that are associated with a more serious course of COVID due to a reduction in the antiviral defense.
Immune system
The human body has mechanisms that regulate appetite.

This report analyzes genes involved in these mechanisms. These genes influence:
- appetite regulation,
- calorie consumption,
- fat cell formation,
- fat storage in fat cells.

This information helps in determining choices regarding lifestyle, diet, and physical activity.

Frequently asked questions

How does the DNA collection work?

It's very simple: Our test kit contains a special cotton swab that allows your patient to easily collect saliva by moving it along the inside of his/her cheek.
So: no needles and no blood!

Do you carry out the test yourselves?

For the DNA analysis we work together with an established and accredited laboratory. This way we can offer a high quality DNA analysis.

What is the delivery time?

After receiving your order, we will start working on your test kit. If you order the test kit before 3:00 PM on a working day, we will ship your test kit the same day.
An order placed with us after 3 p.m. will be shipped the next working day.

How long does it take?

We aim to be able to offer the results of the lab within 3-4 weeks to your patient.
When the time comes, your patient will receive an email from us.
Due to covid pandemic, the lab might be temporarily busier than usual and in that case some delay might be experienced.

Who owns the DNA data?

That is easy: your patient!
Your patient determines what happens with his/her data. We ensure that this is done in the most reliable and safe way.

How can I see my patient's DNA results?

The data belongs to your patient, so he/she must give you permission to see it.
To do this, he/she must log in to his/her meamedica account and share the DNA results with you.

Is this test reimbursed by health insurance?

Pharmacogenetic testing is reimbursed if a patient has serious side effects or if the drug is unexpectedly ineffective. It therefore certainly makes sense to submit the invoice to the health insurer.

Which genes are exactly being analysed in de Personal Medicine test?

Our pharmacogenetic test checks the following genes: ABCB1, ABCG2, ALDH2, BCHE, COMT, CYP1A2, CYP2B6, CYP2C8, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP2D6-enhancer, CYP2E1, CYP3A4, CYP3A5, CYP3A7, CYP4F2, DPYD, F2, F5, G6PD, GRIK4, GSTP1, HLA-B*1502, IFNL3, MTHFR, MT-RNR1, NAT2, NUDT15, OPRM1, SLCO1B1, TPMT, UGT1A1 and VKORC1. What are the possible results of the Personal medicine DNA test?
  • PM, poor metabolizer - greatly reduced or no activity
  • IM, intermediate metabolizer - reduced activity
  • EM, extensive metabolizer - normal activity
  • UM, ultrarapid metabolizer - very fast activity
Is the data safe with you?

We do our utmost to prevent bad things from happening: we have taken measures to prevent illegal access so that your patients' genetic information is safe with us.

  • Fully separated databases keep your genetic information disconnected from your personal (identifiable) information.
  • All connections to our website are encrypted using TLS/SSL (Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer) technology.
  • External firewalls limit unauthorized connections to our databases.
